Dear DT282 Students,

Today you should already have received your results for Semester 1 exams.

If you have failed one or more module components (the end-of-semester exam is the Exam component and any assessments undertaken during the module are combined to give the CA component) you may need to retake these components at the next available sitting.
  • In general, for Exam Components the next available sitting will be the Supplemental Examinations, which will be held sometime in August/September (as determined by the Examinations Office).
  • For failed CA components, it will be at the discretion of the individual lecturer to set a repeat CA component.
  • If you fail both the Exam and CA components for a particular module it may, in some cases, be possible to repeat the Exam Component only and upon obtaining a sufficiently high grade in the repeat Exam Component, be deemed to have passed the module without having to repeat the CA Component.
If you think that some of your CA marks were not included in your overall CA Component mark you should contact the lecturer concerned and/or your year mentor (refer to the list of mentors above).

If you believe your Exam Component result for any particular module does not reflect what you expected you are entitled to see your transcripts (the Blue books on which you wrote your answers during the exam). Here you will see how marks were awarded against each question.

Viewing transcripts is FREE of charge but there is a very tight window to apply to see them. You must contact the School Administrator (computing@dit.ie) immediately after receiving your results to request a Transcript Viewing.  In the email include: Your Name, Student Number, Year of study (1st year, 2nd year etc.), the Programme code (DT282) and the title of the module(s) you which to view.  Include "Transcript Viewing Request" in the subject field.

Viewing your transcripts might help you decide on your next step which may include: a Recheck, a Remark or an Appeal.  Each of these options attracts a fee which may or may not be refundable.  Please refer to the General Assessment Regulations for more information on the processes for rechecks, remarks and appeals.

Kind regards,
Svetlana
